Plot Summary of the manga Blue Lock

After considering the present situation of Japanese soccer, the Japanese Football Association hires Jinpachi Ego as Japan’s World Cup coach. Jinpachi says Japan lacks an aggressive goal-scoring striker. So he establishes the Blue Lock, a prison-like facility in which three hundred brilliant strikers from high schools around Japan are imprisoned and pitted against one another. The only survivor of Blue Lock will gain the privilege to be the national team’s striker, while those who lose will be permanently forbidden from joining.

Yoichi Isagi, a striker who failed to lead his high school soccer team to the national championship, has been chosen to participate in this daring undertaking. He gave the ball to a teammate who missed, causing him to ponder whether the outcome would have been different if he had been more selfish. Yoichi has a wonderful opportunity for self-discovery thanks to the Blue Lock Project. He aspires to be the finest striker in the world and to lead Japan to World Cup victory.

About Blue Lock

Muneyuki Kaneshiro is the author and illustrator of the Japanese manga series ‘Blue Lock.’ Since August 2018, it has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine. A television series based on anime will be accessible on Netflix by 2022.

“The story begins with Japan’s failure to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, causing the Japanese Football Union to create a program scouting high school players in preparation for the 2022 Cup.” Isagi Youichi, a striker, is recruited to this program immediately after his team’s opportunity to participate in Nationals is lost because he passed to a less-skilled teammate who missed rather than attempting to score the game-changing goal himself.

Ego Jinpachi, their coach, plans to “destroy Japanese loser football” by instituting a radical new training regimen that would isolate 300 young strikers in a prison-like facility dubbed “Blue Lock” and subject them to rigorous training aimed at producing “the world’s finest egotist striker.”
