To win over their visitors, the chefs must make a near-perfect reproduction of the original fast food meal and then come up with a high gourmet variation that includes plenty of chuckles. Among the Season 1 guest stars were Joel McHale, James Van Der Beek, Andy Richter, Amanda Seales, & Ron Funches. The three cooks meet a celebrity visitor and are given the person’s favorite fast food meal. The first task dubbed the “copycat round,” requires them to recreate the cuisine, during which the visitor interacts with the chefs and even helps prepare portions of the dish. The guest and the cooks test each meal, and the guest chooses the one that is most comparable to the food.
The second task dubbed the “remix round,” requires the chefs to create their own version of the meal, doing something radically different from the original. The winner of the first task assigns a slight “handicap” to the other two cooks, such as needing to utilize an unexpected item. The challenges have no time constraints. They sample the new dishes, and the visitor selects a winner, who receives the “Championship trophy” and several mementos. The losing chefs are then subjected to a little penalty, such as eating an unpleasant mixture of ingredients or having food thrown at them.
